Overview
Dan Standish’s creation of The Relic reflects his tenure in the Rhône Valley, where the time-honoured practice of co-fermenting Viognier with Shiraz informed his vision. After founding The Standish Wine Company in 1999, he sought a site that echoed the Côte-Rôtie style: the Hongell Family Vineyard at Krondorf, with its old-vine Shiraz and a small Viognier component. Employing the same gentle extraction and barrel regimen as his Barossa flagship, Standish co-ferments fruit parcels to capture a floral lift and structural precision, honouring both Rhône tradition and Barossa heritage.
