Overview
Dan Standish’s journey with The Standish Shiraz began in 1999, when he secured a mere half-hectare of his parents’ Vine Vale vineyard—planted in 1927 and farmed by his family ever since. That historic block, now nearly a century old, yields fewer than 300 dozen bottles each year, underscoring both its rarity and the care required to tend such ancient vines. Dan ferments on wild yeasts and ages the wine for 30 months in French oak, but it is the vineyard’s legacy—its deep roots, old-school dry-farming and enduring connection to the Standish family—that imbues this Shiraz with its unmistakable sense of place.
