Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
The Hunter Valley vineyard ‘Rosehill’ is located opposite Lake’s Folly on volcanic soils. Planted in 1946. The wine gets predominately large format, new, second and third use French and Hungarian oak.
Deeply coloured with aromas meshing wild red berries, earth and cloves. The mixed oak lends an interesting array of spice to both the bouquet and the palate. In the mouth, the wine starts with generous viscous sweetness, but tapers to slender, savoury spice. Satisfying medium bodied red.
