Overview
Mount Pleasant, located in the Hunter Valley, is known for producing some of Australia's finest Shiraz. The Old Paddock & Old Hill Shiraz is crafted from two historic vineyards: the Old Paddock Vineyard, planted in 1921, and the Old Hill Vineyard, planted in 1880. These low-yielding vines produce grapes with intense flavour and complexity.
The 2013 vintage is noted for its deep purple colour, rich dark fruit flavours, and integrated spice notes. The wine undergoes fermentation in open-top fermenters, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing in 35% new French oak barrels for 15 months. This careful process results in a wine with robust structure and excellent cellaring potential.

Offline, when I told CM and MB that I had both 2013 and 2014 vintages of Rosehill and OP&OH, and they should hold off reviewing the 2013, CM quipped that WineFront subscribers would just have to make do with third best then. What a cheek!
Don’t let the hype of vintage 2014 turn you away from this little beauty! Bramble fruit, oyster shell, smoked meat, Dutch liquorice, black pepper and cedar wood. It’s medium bodied, bright and tangy with just-ripe blackberry, a perky acid line, earthy savoury flavours, and a precise finish that falls a little softer via squished boysenberry and raspberry sweetness, then fine grained tannin kicks it along.
