Origins

In the verdant heart of Jura, the story of Domaine Berthet-Bondet unfolds—a narrative steeped in revival and passion. Founded in 1984 by Jean and Chantal Berthet-Bondet, this domaine rejuvenated a vineyard that had slumbered for over fifty years. Here, among the ancient vines of Château-Chalon, they established their life's work.

The domaine, starting with just 3 hectares, has grown to encompass 11 hectares of meticulously cared-for vines, including Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir. This expansion respects the ancient terroir while embracing new viticultural methods, marrying tradition with innovation.

Jean, mentored at the esteemed Domaine Macle, brought his deep respect for organic practices to his vineyards, officially converting to organic viticulture in 2010. His dedication is reflected in the sous-voile wines that necessitate over six years of ageing to reach their full expressive potential, mirroring Jean's own quiet, patient nature.

Now, with his daughter Hélène at the helm, the domaine remains a beacon of quality and tradition. She brings fresh perspectives to the winemaking process while upholding the values that have made their wines deeply emblematic of the Jura's winemaking heritage. Under her leadership, the narrative of Domaine Berthet-Bondet continues to evolve, promising new chapters of innovation intertwined with steadfast dedication to the land and its legacy.
