About
Domaine Henri Rebourseau in Gevrey Chambertin traces back to 1782 when Jacques Rebourseau and his son Claude started making a name for themselves as hardworking winemakers. People of the land.
The turning point for this historical estate was in 1839 when Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau married Louise-Victoire Philippon in Gevrey Chambertin and started gathering vineyard plots around the village.
A major shift has taken place since 1980, with organic certification and biodynamic practices across the entire property. 13.5ha of vines in total including 5.28ha in Grand Cru Appellations with very high planting density of 11,000 vines per ha.
Seven generations later, Domaine Henri Rebourseau is safely in the hands of descendants Louis & Bénigne de Surrel as well as Martin & Olivier Bouygues who joined them as co-owners in 2018. - Importer Note
Tasting Notes
There is plenty of ripe blackberry fruit with a hint of leather and a firm mineral base, wrapped in firm, slightly grippy tannins. Two parcels totaling 1.32ha, both in Aux Charmes, contribute fruit for this wine. Fermentation is traditional, with moderate maceration before fermentation and a slight inclusion of whole clusters in 2018. A charming result
