About
A family affair to this very day, Moccagatta continues to focus on both the terroir of their homeland and the finesse that Barbaresco demands. The vineyards are all farmed organically and the wines, while being aged in a stunningly updated winery, speak of a place and of a people with a long history of tending this very land. If you haven’t been introduced to the wines of Moccagatta, now’s the time. And if you have, we welcome you to reacquaint yourself with these beautiful wines from Barbaresco. - Importer Note
Tasting Notes
The 2019 Barbaresco Cole is, as always, the most potent wine in this range. A blast of black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, spice, licorice and menthol hits the palate, followed by the big, bruising tannins that are such a signature of this site. Like the Basarin, the Cole has an exotic feeling of ripeness in 2019.

The Moccagatta 2019 Barbaresco Cole is beautifully sharp and defined, boasting a luminous ruby color and medium weight. The wine is redolent of red cherry, sour plum, licorice root and powdery crushed stone. The tannins are firm but also silky, and I'm betting on an elegant future bottle evolution for this classic vintage.
