Domaine Marc Roy is located in Gevrey-Chambertin in the north part of the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin is home to an astonishing nine Grand-Cru appellations of Burgundy’s thirty-three. Accordingly, it is one of the most prestigious villages of Burgundy.

The Roy family has been cultivating grapes for four generations and in 1982, they began bottling their own production to fulfil their passion.

Domaine Marc Roy is an impressive Domaine of only four hectares. Their wines are arguably the most accomplished of the village appellation. The cuvée “Vieilles Vignes” is made from vines averaging 70 years in age from plots such as En Jouise, Carougeot, Les Murots, Les Crais, Vignes Belles and Les Seuvrées. Alexandrine Roy knows her vineyards intimately. The wine growing process is regarded as paramount at the Domaine. Vine by vine, the yields are managed to produce only small crops of healthy and concentrated grapes. She identifies the premium vines within her vineyards and exploits them in this amazing cuvée. The grapes are all “millerandées”, or naturally smaller berries than the norm. It has a greater natural concentration. - Importer Note

Tasting Notes

An interesting and equally fresh and ripe nose combines notes of black fruit coulis, kirsch, violet and a floral whiff. The delicious, vibrant and more refined medium weight flavors possess an attractive texture thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the slightly more complex and sneaky long finale. This too offers very fine quality for its level.
