About
Domaine Marc Roy is located in Gevrey-Chambertin in the north part of the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin is home to an astonishing nine Grand-Cru appellations of Burgundy’s thirty-three. Accordingly, it is one of the most prestigious villages of Burgundy.
The Roy family has been cultivating grapes for four generations and in 1982, they began bottling their own production to fulfil their passion.
Domaine Marc Roy is an impressive Domaine of only four hectares. Their wines are arguably the most accomplished of the village appellation. The cuvée “Vieilles Vignes” is made from vines averaging 70 years in age from plots such as En Jouise, Carougeot, Les Murots, Les Crais, Vignes Belles and Les Seuvrées. Alexandrine Roy knows her vineyards intimately. The wine growing process is regarded as paramount at the Domaine. Vine by vine, the yields are managed to produce only small crops of healthy and concentrated grapes. She identifies the premium vines within her vineyards and exploits them in this amazing cuvée. The grapes are all “millerandées”, or naturally smaller berries than the norm. It has a greater natural concentration. - Importer Note
Tasting Notes
A mentholated top note can be found on the spicy mix of poached plum and warm earth. I very much like the texture of the delicious middle weight flavors that possess solid mid-palate density while exuding a refreshing salinity on the sneaky long and nicely balanced finale. Very good quality for a villages Gevrey.

The nose is powerful, with a great concentration of red berries and earthiness. The taste is lively, delivering a great weight on the palate, framed by a delicious minerality. It shows well in its youth and can benefit from being cellared between four to ten years. - Importer Note
