About
Domaine Rougeot is located in the beautiful, historic village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune, France. It covers 12 hectares of vineyard on Burgundy’s best slopes.
The Rougeot family has produced wine for five generations on appellations including Meursault-Charmes, Meursault “Sous la Velle”, Meursault “Monatine”, Volnay-Santenots, Pommard “Clos des Roses”, Monthélie “Les Toisières”, Saint-Romain “La Combe Bazin”, and regional appellations Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
Producer and owner Marc Rougeot, now alongside his sons Pierre-Henri and Alexandre, energetically continue the family tradition with a mixture of modern, organic and traditional processes that get the best out of every vintage.
The “Les Santenots” climat is located in the northern part of Meursault facing South-East, next to Volnay in the lower part of the village. This climat* is classified as a Volnay 1er Cru for red and as a Meursault 1er Cru for white. - Importer Note
Tasting Notes
The domaine has 2.2ha of which 1.5ha is an excellent millerand selection and the rest more productive, not ripening so well but important for the balance of the cuvée. Pierre-Henri sells off what he doesn’t need of the latter, but the proportion will vary according to the year. First to be picked. Quite a full yellow but the bouquet has maintained freshness. This has greater persistence than the Bourgogne Grandes Gouttes but is otherwise not that much superior.
