About
Domaine Rougeot is located in the beautiful, historic village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune, France. It covers 12 hectares of vineyard on Burgundy’s best slopes.
The Rougeot family has produced wine for five generations on appellations including Meursault-Charmes, Meursault “Sous la Velle”, Meursault “Monatine”, Volnay-Santenots, Pommard “Clos des Roses”, Monthélie “Les Toisières”, Saint-Romain “La Combe Bazin”, and regional appellations Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
Producer and owner Marc Rougeot, now alongside his sons Pierre-Henri and Alexandre, energetically continue the family tradition with a mixture of modern, organic and traditional processes that get the best out of every vintage.
Domaine Rougeot has a long history of making superb white wines from the famed village of Meursault. “Les Toisières” is located just over the road from Meursault and the 1er Cru “La Taupine” (which produces a Pinot Noir). It is an ideal location and the vineyard faces south, allowing for optimal ripening conditions. - Importer Note
Tasting Notes
Young vines now 20 years old, though some are struggling (161/49 rootstock and drought). The vineyard faces west with a very light topsoil over the limestone. Fullish yellow, but the fruit is much more in white mode, fills the mid palate, generous and attractive. Will be lovely to drink young but not so much a keeper.
