About
"After studying architecture in Perth and many years away, I returned to the area in 2005 and made 2 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon in 2006, which was the birth of Hutton Wines. Fruit is sourced from the Wildberry Springs Estate vineyard in Wilyabrup. Triptych and Reserve wines are the finest expression of vineyard and vintage. I hope you enjoy these wines and share the love." - Michael Hutton
Tasting Notes
The 2021 Triptych is quite golden in the glass, with profound acidity that penetrates the palate. This is structured (by oak, phenolics and acidity) and tense, with an array of Granny Smith apples, green pineapple, pink grapefruit, hints of saffron and white pepper. While it is balanced on the acidic end of the spectrum at this point, it has class and great intensity, but it may need an extra year to settle in, perhaps. This is made with fruit from Wilyabrup in Margaret River, from 25-year-old vines. A blend of Gingin, Clone 3 and Clone 5, it was handpicked, whole-bunch pressed, wild fermented in French oak (33% new) and matured for eight months.
